The Inner Wheel
Another of the author's portmanteau novels, this time a powerful story of a gestalt mind. If any writer has mastered the art of conceiving a novel composed of free standing segments that unite to make a greater whole, then Roberts has. First editions are very difficult to find, paperbacks relatively easy.

DUSTJACKET BLURB: Fear was, the key to understanding. It rode the Steam Fair gallopers, haunted Libby Maynard till her brain blew apart; it walked with Roley in a dawn bay, where a dream house folded steel wings above the cliffs. Fear was the weapon of the Groups, yet they were also afraid. The Groups developed gestalt brains, became bands of the physically gifted who could see into the future, into men's minds and even move objects without touching them. Casued by a breakthrough or a mutation, they taught themselves to cope with fear, and with the knowledge of thei own powers, till a new fear entered their lives an impending world war. Could Homo Gestalt, Homo Superior stop the world from destroying itself?
